NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PETROLEUM EXPLORATIONISTS - PTI STUDENT CHAPTER VISITS WESTEND DIAMOND ENERGY LIMITED
Westend Diamond Energy Limited welcomed the students from the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists department of Petroleum Engineering PTI chapter to the WEDEL base for an excursion and brief intensive training on drilling mechanisms and techniques.
The visit commenced with the students being warmly welcomed and given a detailed safety induction by Mr. Uju Ojingwa, WEDEL’s QA/QC Lead, along with a brief introduction to key individuals.
Mr. Marvellous Eshimokhai, WEDEL’s Operations Manager, then introduced the students to the company, providing a summary of the company profile and mission statement. They were briefed on the range of services offered by WEDEL, including Well Control Equipment and Well Control System Maintenance, Drops Inspection Survey Management, BOP and SUBSEA Inspection, Training programs, Pipeline/facility pre-commissioning and commissioning services, Environmental Consultancy and Remediation, OCTG Inspections, Consultancy Services, and more.
Mr. Ogbolo Brown introduced the students to the drilling simulator system of Westend Diamond and a crash course on drilling was carried out.
One of the beneficiaries of the WEDEL DRILLING ACADEMY, Mr. Amos, shared insights with the students and recounted his personal journey into the Academy.
The students enjoyed a tour of the WEDEL base, where they visited the administrative blocks, the well control simulator room, and the workshop where engineering marvels take shape. They observed staff diligently at work, ensuring ongoing repairs and strictly adhering to safety protocols.
Additionally, students were advised to leverage social media to enhance their learning experience, engage with firms, and connect with organizations of interest, thus expanding their exposure and opportunities.
